Social inclusion of disadvantaged communities
The Lisbon Metropolitan Area is developing an integrated approach to promoting the social inclusion of communities living in situations of need, through the "Communities in Action - Integrated Metropolitan Operations" intervention plan.
The plan, presented on November 4 at the Monastery of São Dinis and São Bernardo in Odivelas, was developed as part of the PRR (Social Responses of the PRR "Integrated Operations in Disadvantaged Communities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area").
It has an investment of 121.5 million euros, to be applied by December 31, 2025, in 31 integrated local operations, each with a minimum investment of 2.75 million euros. The final beneficiaries are the municipalities that make up each of the six local technical units, and the lead entity is responsible for submitting the application.
The money will be spent on physical interventions and immaterial actions, according to the characteristics, problems and opportunities of each community, which has been and will be involved in the discussion, planning and implementation of the operations, so that the solutions found are effective responses to their concerns.
Around 70 partner organizations will be involved in more than a hundred projects of different scopes and scales.
The plan is structured to respond to seven areas of intervention, where various social and economic vulnerabilities are concentrated: the environment and the enhancement of public space, culture and creativity, education, citizenship and community empowerment, employment and the local economy, health and social dynamism.
