Launching the region on a new development horizon
The main objective of the Integrated Territorial Investment for the Lisbon Metropolitan Area for the 2021-2027 programming cycle is to promote the implementation of the AML 2030 Lisbon Regional Strategy, in addition to other instruments under the responsibility of the Central State and local authorities.
Through the mobilization of municipal, inter-municipal and co-promoting entities, joint projects will be implemented within the framework of identified investment priorities, linking metropolitan, regional, national and European strategic benchmarks.
ITI AML 2030 continues two decades of coordinated implementation of the European Union's cohesion policy on a metropolitan scale and responding to the local and regional challenges of competitiveness, inclusion and sustainability.
With the process of drawing up the AML 2030 Lisbon Regional Strategy, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, together with the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Coordination and Development Commission, in an exemplary experience of multi-level coordination, established the framework for strategic intervention and investment programming in its territorial area of intervention, thus giving an important boost to the process of preparing for a new cycle of European funds.
The actions to be developed will contribute to affirming the capital region within a framework of valuing people and territory, prioritizing areas such as climate action, sustainable urban mobility, combating school dropout and failure, and reducing poverty and social exclusion. This strategic vision mobilizes all players to overcome the new and old challenges facing the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, launching the region into a new horizon of development and, above all, affirming its indispensability as an engine of prosperity and cohesion for the whole of Portugal.
