The people are in charge of the virtual exhibition

The virtual exhibition "O Povo é Quem mais Ordena", promoted by the Área Metropolitana de Lisboa (AML), in partnership with its 18 municipalities, was developed as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974.

Celebrating 50 years of culture in freedom, the exhibition, which uses sounds, photographs, videos and interviews, covers themes such as workers' struggles, the associative movement, women's resistance, neorealism, murals, literature, music, the plastic arts and anti-fascist resistance, among many others.

It is divided into 20 sections: an initial one, consisting of a film about the importance of local power in the post-25 April period, and an approach to the tile mural "A Metropolitana", created by Mário Linhares for the headquarters of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area; a central one, with photographs by Carlos Granja about April 25, 1974; and another 18, themed, with the work carried out in each of the municipalities in the Lisbon metropolitan area, which highlights the significance of this iconic date for the country.

The exhibition, which opened in June 2025, was born out of the Metropolitan Culture Working Group, made up of political and technical representatives from the 18 municipalities in the metropolitan region, and seeks to enhance popular sovereignty as an essential element of democracy.
