Education and social development in the spotlight at the "Communities in Action" seminar

The influence of education in promoting inclusion and combating inequalities, and social development as a mechanism for metropolitan cohesion and the autonomy of communities, will be highlighted at the "Communities in Action" seminar, in two thematic round tables that will feature experts from national reference institutions and political representatives from municipalities in the Lisbon metropolitan area.

The "Communities in Action" seminar, which will take place on November 21 at the Celeiro da Patriarcal in Vila Franca de Xira, starting at 9:45 a.m., will also serve to present some of the work that six municipalities in the Lisbon metropolitan area have been carrying out in the areas of education (Vila Franca de Xira, Alcochete and Sesimbra) and social development (Mafra, Amadora and Moita), as part of the metropolitan plan to support disadvantaged communities.

The seminar will be the first of three events of this type that will focus annually on the thematic axes associated with the investments of the 31st Integrated Operations in Disadvantaged Communities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

Metropolitan plan to support disadvantaged communities in the Lisbon metropolitan area

The metropolitan plan to support disadvantaged communities in the Lisbon metropolitan area will be implemented in 31 local integrated operations, in all the municipalities of the Lisbon metropolitan area, by December 2025.

It has funding of 121.5 million euros from the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan. The funds are being applied to physical interventions and immaterial actions, according to the characteristics, problems and opportunities of each community.

The planning and implementation of operations involve the communities, so that the solutions found are effective responses to their concerns and needs.
