In 2024, there will be no price increase for the Navegante® passes

The navegante® fare passes in force in the Lisbon metropolitan area and the fare for occasional tickets for Carris Metropolitana services will not be increased in 2024.

The navegante® tariff, it should be remembered, has not had a tariff update since its creation in April 2019.

As foreseen in the 2024 State Budget Report, this price freeze makes it possible, next year, to continue to travel on all transport operators with the navegante® paying the usual prices: €30 for the municipal navegante® - for journeys within a single municipality - and €40 for the metropolitan navegante® - for journeys within the 18 municipalities of the Lisbon metropolitan area.

In the same way, the discounts for the navegante® family and +65 remain in force, while the gratuity for navegante 12 is maintained, and this will be extended in 2024 to students under 18 and under 23, pending publication of the respective government order.

By decision of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, the occasional fares valid on Carris Metropolitana will also remain unchanged next year, also maintaining the value that was in force when they were launched in June 2022.

This joint initiative by the municipalities defines that Carris Metropolitana's pre-purchased and on-board tickets will maintain their prices in 2024, a measure that corresponds to a municipal investment in collective mobility and aims to consolidate fares and the service that covers the entire Lisbon metropolitan area since January 1, 2023.

The price of navegante® has remained unchanged since its launch in 2019, despite the increase in the Fare Update Rate since that date - the increase for 2024 is 6.43%, as determined by the Mobility and Transport Authority.

The non-increase in navigante® passes and occasional tickets valid on Carris Metropolitana are measures that meet the need to mobilize more and more citizens to use collective public transport and promote sustainable mobility, while responding to the climate emergency and family savings.
