AML to take part in drawing up a European metropolitan strategy for 2050

The Lisbon Metropolitan Area has been invited to take part in drawing up a European metropolitan strategy for 2050, as part of a working group coordinated by Metrex (a professional platform that connects public and private sector players to build a sustainable and inclusive European future) and the European Parliament's Urban group.

The construction of this "MetropolitanVision for Europe 2050 - Resilient urban and rural transformation for a climate-neutral future" resulted from a challenge launched by the European Union Commissioner for Cohesion and Reform, Elisa Ferreira, during the Forum of European Metropolitan Authorities, held in Porto in November 2021.

In order to highlight the fundamental contribution of cities and metropolitan regions in the climate field, Metrex therefore intends to build a strategy to meet the challenge of the 2050 climate targets, highlighting the fundamental contribution of cities and metropolitan regions to achieving the recommended targets.

The strategy's development steps were presented to the partners by the metropolitan secretary, Filipe Ferreira, on January 21, in a videoconference that brought together members of Metrex and the European Parliament.
