AML Agri-Food Parks Network meets in Sintra

Sintra Town Hall organized the monthly meeting of the recently created AML Agri-Food Parks Network, which brings together more than 20 partners, including local authorities, central government agencies, universities, promoters' associations, cooperatives and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The meeting, which discussed issues such as funding opportunities and the organization and functioning of the working groups, also included a visit to the ELS - Estevão Luís Salvador horticultural production and distribution center, which has been involved in agricultural production in the Sintra region since 1982.

The members of the network also had the opportunity to get to know the project that promotes the Mediterranean diet in school meals, at the EB2,3 Rui Grácio School.

The network, coordinated by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRLVT) and the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon, is working on sustainable food, promoting the Mediterranean diet and reducing food waste.

AML has been working on sustainability and food transition issues since 2019, when, together with the CCDRLVT, it drew up the Lisboa 2030 Regional Strategy and identified Environmental and Food Sustainability as a priority dimension.
