Work regulations
The Constitution of the Portuguese Republic enshrines the right to collective bargaining, establishing the right of trade union associations and employers to collectively regulate labor relations, within the limits set by law.
The General Law on Public Employment provides that certain matters can be the subject of collective bargaining, granting municipalities the right to enter into collective bargaining agreements with trade unions.
In view of the specific nature of the services provided by the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, and the resources it must have in order to achieve its objectives, it is important to safeguard the rights of workers necessary to achieve them, allowing them to better reconcile their personal and family lives with their professional lives, raising motivation levels in the performance of their duties.
With this in mind, the AML has established several collective agreements for public employers.
